Cryopreservation for Sperm/ Oocyte/ Embryo

This Surgical sperm retrieval may be an ideal treatment option for men with complications such as; obstruction that prevents sperm release, Congenital absence of the vas deferens (men born without the tube that drains the sperm from the testicle), Vasectomised men, and men with Non-obstructive azoospermia (Testicles produce low count sperm that don’t reach the vas).

Cryopreservation is a process where embryos or sperms are preserved at -196°C under liquid nitrogen containers for a prescribed period of time.  It is used in infertility programs to freeze and store sperms and embryos obtained from the couples for future use.  We use a new technique called Vitrification which is an ultra-rapid IVF embryo freezing.

Who needs cryopreservation?

When excess eggs/embryos produced during IVF treatment.

To provide storage after sperm have been surgically removed from the testes.

Before a vasectomy for contraception.

Cancer patients who are under treatment.
